We love hearing how our products make a real difference for families. Below is part of an interview with a Take Cover customer who chose an in-garage, in-ground shelter and our breathable cover after moving to Oklahoma.

My mom was living in Nashville and unfortunately her house was completely destroyed by an EF-3 tornado and literally her house collapsed around her. That experience had a profound impact on me and my desire to make sure when we moved to Oklahoma that we had an in-ground shelter. Then I had additional reassurance when I discovered the Take Cover shelter protector.

The cover has a really nice sewn border and I will say that’s been very impressive because it is the right balance of, lightness to pull back, but it’s durable enough that it’s not blown up by the wind. For us, there was no other option besides an underground—particularly because of the extreme nature of tornadoes that can hit this part of the country.

I’m anxious about tornadoes. I don’t want to be going in, time and time again to clean it out. I prefer to remain out of it unless I need to get into it. Any time an emergency happened, I would have immediate access to a safe, secure, clean shelter and my family, myself would be protected.

I like that this was a US based, military owned company. It’s handcrafted—the quality is exceptional. My husband comes in and out over the cover with his car daily. It doesn’t shift the cover. It doesn’t lift the cover. So the cover is of exceptional quality. The inside fabric is a breathable material. So it does allow for the shelter not to be sealed completely and causing issues that would arise from that. That breathable feature is exceptional technology that was developed. Like I said, I’m very impressed. We’ve put it down. It stayed in place. And, it’s just easy peasy.

I like that it’s black. It’s clean, it’s not, distracting. And it’s one solid, cover. It’s got a very clean look. Which we like our garage to look nice and well-kept. So that is a nice feature as well, but it’s a very sleek looking cover. I’ve accessed it, testing it, and it’s very easy to access. And it goes right back down place.

We’ve been very pleased with it so far.

We’re grateful for feedback like this—it reinforces why we focus on durable materials, thoughtful design, and easy usability. If keeping your shelter clean, ventilated, and ready matters to you (as it matters to this customer), our breathable cover is designed to help with exactly that.
